Baksa Vikash Mansha (BVM)-Registered under Society registration Act of XXI,1860 with Reg. No. RS/BAK/260/D/28/ of 2010-11 is a Non –Profit and Non-Government Organization based at Nikashi in Baksa District under BTAD in Assam.The organization was set up by a group of educated and enthusiastic young women and men from different communities, caste and religion with a view of supporting the weaker sections of society. The Word “Baksa” is derived from Dzonkha language which means “Corridor” as the Bhutanese came down to the plains through the areas in the Northern part of present Baksa District. The working area of the NGO are featured by sandy, rocky, sub- tropical and upland topography . Most of the people of the district are farmers, dependent on seasonal rain with low access to ground water resources. But the district is rich in tradition and culture of diverse communities.
